Business & Fiscal Services
KVUSD’s Business Office serves the district in all matters relating to the district's finances such as budget, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing. This department also coordinates contracted services, interacts with outside agencies and financial institutions, and prepares and presents board, community and staff reports.
Ensuring the District is in a good financial position so that we can continue to support student excellence is at the core of what we do.
How Schools Are Funded
California schools are primarily funded through a combination of local, state, and federal sources. The state's funding system includes revenue from income and sales taxes, which is distributed to school districts based on a formula known as the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). The LCFF takes into account factors like student enrollment, the number of low-income students, English learners, and foster youth, ensuring that districts with higher needs receive more funding. Local property taxes also contribute to school funding, although this varies by district. Additionally, federal funding supports specific programs and services, such as Title I.
