Attendance

Kelseyville Elementary cares about your child’s safety and education. Regular attendance (arriving at school on time and remaining for the entire instructional day) is crucial to your child’s academic success. Studies show that a student who misses 10 or more school days will likely struggle in upper-grade levels. Please try to schedule any doctor, dentist, or other appointments for your child after 2:00 p.m. when school is dismissed. Make every effort to get your child to school every day on time. If your child should be absent for any reason, please call the school office at (707) 279-4232 as soon as possible and state the reason for the absence. You may leave a message or call back if there is no answer. You can also send an email as soon as possible to our secretary or even send a note upon your child’s return to school. If we don’t hear from you by 8:00 am the day of the absence, a call will be placed from our office to verify the absence.

If your child must be excused early for an appointment (doctor, medical or personal), please send a note to inform his/her teacher and the office. Students will be called to the office WHEN a parent arrives. We will NOT call a student to the office prior to a parent being present, so please plan appropriately. All students must be signed out through the office before leaving.

Perfect Attendance is just that: PERFECT. Any time a child leaves school early or misses any part of the school day, he/she will not qualify for perfect attendance.

Partial Day Attendance

Whenever possible, a student should inform his/her teacher of a doctor, dentist or other appointments before the absence. If an appointment is scheduled during the day, parents must sign their child out through the office.

Month Of May Attendance

Please do not plan vacations or schedule appointments for your child during the month of May. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade students will be taking the Smarter Balance Test.

Short-Term Independent Study

Kelseyville Elementary School offers short term independent study. Independent Study must be at least five consecutive school days with a maximum of twenty. An Independent Study application must be filled out one week prior to the first day of Independent Study.
